I walked in as a long time Floridian thinking this place will probably be decent enough for a seafood shack. If you’re passing through or visiting from out of state, Posey’s is everything these other seafood shack are trying to be. Food was far better than what I expected. Service is that classic southern diner feel. Atmosphere is a seafood shack by the coast. If you’re planning on trying seafood near the coast, do not miss this extremely unassuming restaurant. You’ll be glad you stopped.

Absolutely would recommend to everyone that comes through here to stop by and try Poseys. The staff is absolutely amazing! Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Our server Gina did a spectacular job with all of us, especially the little ones. The food, especially the fried shrimp, is amazing!!! And if you’re a shrimp lover, Thursday nights are all you can eat shrimp!!

Wow! 5ive stars across the board! Well...this isn't a fine dining, Michelin starred place. It's an honest, FRESH seafood place. Our party hit the high points of sides and entrees. All home runs. Three of us had combos, and each separate main was a large enough portion to stand alone. I had about 20 oysters and 13 shrimp. Everything was great, from prep to sauces to sides. Good service, great food, super value. THIS is what a properly run restaurant looks like, no matter where. Care in hiring, menu, cooking, and sourcing. Truth be told, its a tired old building with some effort at decorating within the last decade. Great. Whatever. Ralph and Kacoos and Bonefish Grill et al spent millions with designers trying to duplicate this in a sanitized boring way. This is the Original, and authentic look. Fried shrimp so fresh and well-cooked they 'pop' and are pink while the breading is crisp....not easy. Mainly a regular, local crowd. Plenty of folks hollering at each other and saying 'Hey'. Not a fundrinkery but beer is available. My buddy remarked it would be worth a drive from SGI, and he's not fond of drives like that....and he doesn't even like seafood. He had a giant hamburger steak with gravy, and proclaimed it excellent. If you are within an hour DO IT!!!

UPDATE! Went again yesterday 5/3/2025 and it was awesome! Had the large platter with grouper, shrimp, oysters, scallops and crab cake. The picture speak a 1000 words. Enough for two and worth every penny. Can't wait to go back. Went there yesterday with a friend since I gave up in The Seineyard in Woodville. Lived here in Tallahassee for 40 years and never ate there for some silly reason. Usually something closer. Saw the great reviews and my mom's friend at church spoke highly of them. Went there and had some very fresh mullet, cheese grits and vegetables. Man it was good. The service was great and all of the waitresses were more than friendly and eager to make sure it was a great experience. Some darn good sweet tea too! Glad to have a Seineyard option as I will never go there again. If you want great seafood from locals who enjoy having customers at a great price then this place is for you. They also have AUCE shrimp on Thursdays and rib eye on Friday. P.S. I reviewed the Seineyard. Worth a read.
